About the Book: Lifestyle and Epidemiology: Poverty and cardiovascular diseases a double burden in an African population. The non-communicable diseases (NCD) profile is changing rapidly over time amongst the rural population. The quadruple burden of diseases is characterized by a combination of poverty-related diseases together with emerging NCDs associated with urbanisation, industrialisation and a westernised lifestyle. In fact, NCDs are not applicable to older people only, there were sixteen million deaths from NCDs in people under the age of seventy years in 2005. The World Heart Federation, however, has a plan in place to reduce these deaths by at least 25% in 2025. Comprehensive and interactive scientific ideas on lifestyle and biological risk factors for a non-communicable disease which contributes to poverty and cardiovascular diseases.
