Health is evolving and so are we!

Don’t forget to browse through our Interesting Links to find current projects and innovations. Delve into the archives and check out Newsletters from our inception in 2016. Interested in Opportunities and Events in the MHHA network? These are listed under our News tab. We look forward to seeing you on the new website. Remember to check out our Youtube channel, join our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter (@AndMhha).

“Connected Lives” – We would also like to take this opportunity to present the online launch of the recently published book: Connected Lives: Families, households, health and care in contemporary South Africa (HSRC Press 2020), edited by Nolwazi Mkhwanazi and Lenore Manderson. This unique book combines the work of about 40 contributors from a range of disciplines. We provide introductions to much of this work on the MHHA website and Youtube channel.

This is us – We are a network of practitioners, researchers, artists and activists across Africa interested in health related issues. Our aim is to bring people who are interested in or already working in this space together. We provide a space for people to showcase their projects and to provide information on work, exhibitions, projects, education, research and praxis related to medical and health humanities on the continent.

Our mission

  • To develop and strengthen Medical and Health Humanities networks across the continent and beyond by providing information on projects, and opportunities for research and collaborative work between and within African countries.
  • To build online resources for people interested and working in Africa in areas where issues related to medicine and health meet the social sciences, humanities and the arts.
